Dropping Loads Production: Post Workout Nutrition

Milky here, which is rare. I'm not found around this blog that much or at all.  I have a younger brother named Max that lives to workout and eat right and all that comes with bodybuilding. On the other hand, I'm all about not caring and being too lazy to lift. Due to this, Max always likes to bring up the question "Do you even lift?", which I think is some sort of meme that I don't understand all too well. So this time around, we sort of mixed both of our personalities and came up with a quick sketch called Post Workout Nutrition.

Beware, its pretty dumb.

Dropping Loads Productions: DVD Load-Down #13 - Peter Jackson's Meet the Feebles

Pouch here. Sorry for the lack of an opening sketch this time around, we had to rush this one out. Don't bitch at Milky, the blame is all mine. I had the movie for about 2-3 weeks and with Megacon coming around, it slipped my mind entirely. For the most part, I had a busy week balancing work, editing that pod (which went up late), and then watching and reviewing the flick. Please forgive me, hopefully it won't happen as often. Yes, I said as often, because I'm sure it'll happen again. We have to watch the flicks first and then write the sketch, which often happens a day or two before we shoot.

Anyway, this week we have Peter Jackson's Meet the Feebles. It's a doozey.

Dropping Loads Productions: Out Like a Fleshlight

Pouch here and I've got a brand new sketch to share with you. This one... I want to say birthed from Milky taking a Robert Rodriguez approach to writing. He conceptualized a sketch idea based on what he possessed as opposed what he needed to obtain. In this case, it was a fleshlight. I believe it was originally a gag gift given to Eugene, but ended up floating around their group of friends, where it landed at Nikki's for years before she moved out and realized she still had it in her possession. It's current whereabouts is Milky Way Studios, where I'm assuming Milky got the idea. This was a two-day shoot and was pretty fun as we had a relatively large cast and crew in this one as you'll see some new faces along as well as some familiar faces you haven't seen in some time.

Dropping Loads Productions: DVD Load-Down #12 - Richard Linklater's Slacker

Hey, it's Pouch. So yeah, last week was the first anniversary of DLP and although we didn't really celebrate with any particular event, we did make sure at least one pretty cool gift was given to our fearless leader Milky.

The gift was Eugene's idea that he originally wanted to do for Christmas, but due the high cost of customization, he opted for something else. At the time, I was aware that our first anniversary was right around the corner, so I suggested the possibility of splitting it between a few of us who've been deeply involved since the humble beginnings - Eugene, Dave, Nikki, Maria, and me. We presented this to him last Friday.

Happy Anniversary DLP! I couldn't be more proud of the shit we managed to pull off last year. Thanks to everyone that made everything we did worthwhile.

Now onto the real reason why I'm writing this blog, we've got a new DVD Load-Down comin' at ya! This week we're doing Richard Linklater's Slacker. Don't mind the long and and unfunny opening, it's supposed to be a parody of the movie, which is very similar to what we did... y'know, except for Eugene acting a fool.

Dropping Loads Productions: Them Boys Insurance

Pouch here. We've got a new sketch for you this week. This one came about based on a conversation that most of the boys were having at a New Year's Eve party, me excluded. We finally took the time to commit it to paper and film very recently. We also unintentionally channeled Tiger Balm in this one in that we were cutting in between random scenes in an attempt to sell a product. Tiger Balm worked out well and required little to no post-production, so we decided to give that approach another go. It's pretty much the Tiger Balm sketch, but with way better production values and less offensively Asian.

Dropping Loads Productions: DVD Load-Down #11 - Roadracers

Hey, guys. Pouch here. Last time we did a DVD Load-Down, we had to pull one out of our asses because unforeseen circumstances prevented us from shooting the sketch that would eventually become Father Knows Best. (Here's some inside info: The script for Father Knows Best was complete around late November/early December and we were intending to shoot it the week that DVD Load-Down #10 was released. Considering the fact that Christmas was just around the corner, we postponed the Father Knows Best shoot in favor of A Suit Goonz Christmas.) Because we really wanted to have something out that week, we decided to just watch a flick and review it. The problem is that without any real prep time, we didn't have a sketch. This time, we're back with a brand new DVD Load-Down, complete with a pretty funny opening sketch. Excuse my shitty acting.

This week, we have Robert Rodriguez's Roadracers. His second flick overall, starring David Arquette, Salma Hayek, and John Hawkes.

Dropping Loads Productions: Father Knows Best

Pouch here. It looks like we're finally back on a regular schedule. This week, we've got a brand new sketch entitled Father Knows Best. If you hadn't noticed yet, a lot of the contributors here are of Asian descent, so we enjoy the occasional Asian stereotype joke. Tiger Balm being one of our more popular videos, we decided that it could be fun to revisit some Asian stereotypes again. To be fair, this idea came from my brother, who simply adores Asian stereotypes. Asian parents are known to be relatively distant to their children and not nearly as open as some other ethnic groups on such topics as sex... and I'm here to inform you that it's true. Well, at least in the case of Nikki, Eugene, my brother and me. So he wondered aloud about how Asian parents would even begin to discuss the topic of sex with their children. The boys took that idea and added a hint of madness to it for our own amusement and Father Knows Best was born.

Dropping Loads Year-in-Review

Hey, guys. It's Pouch. The last few months here at Dropping Loads have been kind of hectic. Unfortunately, due to technical difficulties as well as the holidays coming up around this time, we haven't been on any regular schedule. But that hasn't stopped us from trying to continue releasing as much entertainment as possible.

With this being the last week of 2012, we figured it was worth trying to get something out before the year ended. So we decided on a pod that reflected on this past year and how much we managed to accomplish. I can't speak for everyone at Dropping Loads, but I know that this was a big year for me. For the most part, I've never been the type of a person that reflected upon the year with swelling pride and/or regret as I never actually did anything worthwhile. It was just a matter of ending another year and life continuing on with no need to celebrate any momentous occasions. I'm glad to say that this year warranted such a change to my routine.

It's hard to say what really pushed me to suggest doing a podcast in the first place, but I suppose it was just a need to finally start on a project that I could put my creative energies into. I was slowly getting disillusioned with writing movie news, because it really felt like nobody gave a shit what I had to say. Though, it's difficult to gauge whether or not anybody gives a shit what we have to say on the pod or the videos, but overall the experience of just creating all of this content has been the reward in itself. It's brought me closer to a group of friends that I initially felt sharply divided from. So now I can actually say - with more certainty than I could in the past - that I feel a certain sense of belongingness. And all of it can be tracked through our blog and YouTube channel. It's wonderful that we have something we can show for it and it's even more wonderful that that there are people that actually care, though many of you guys don't make it known very often.

It's been a great year creating things for you guys and hopefully it'll be an even better year in 2013. Thanks for sticking by us.

As usual, Pouch here. I'm not particularly happy with the way this episode turned out. We recorded this in the backyard of Milky Way Studios because Mrs. Milky wasn't feeling very well. There are some sounds in the background, but overall we were lucky enough to be recording on an uneventful night. Audio issues include Steve unconsciously rocking in his seat, thereby moving his mic stand... which it will become apparent within the first few minutes. Apologies for that. I'm most upset with the fact that I sound like such an ignorant idiot, but that's neither here nor there because it was still a pretty entertaining episode.

Yeah, it's been while since our last DVD Load-Down installment. This one, unfortunately, doesn't have an opening sketch because due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control, we had to do this one very last minute. Ah well, in place of an opening sketch, we're debuting an opening sequence that Milky came up with sometime ago. It's a tribute of sorts to a few of his favorite movies. It's a bit morbid, but it's a really nice piece.

 This week, we're reviewing STRIPPERS VS. WEREWOLVES. As you would expect, it's pretty damn silly, but entertaining nevertheless.

Hey, guys. It's Pouch. I'm here today with a brand new sketch! Overall, our approach to anything we've done here thus far is to try to have as much fun as a possible. And we do. Every sketch has been insanely fun. But this newest one is probably been the most fun we've had yet. We were just surrounded with tons of friends really fueling our adrenaline and electrifying the atmosphere. Thankfully, a lot of that was documented courtesy of Chuck, Angie, and Nic, who managed to shoot some pretty cool behind the scenes stuff. Pouch here. For the past couple of months, our schedule has alternated between a YouTube sketch and a podcast, with a random release of a show that Milky and I have been doing for a bit. If you haven't seen it, it's called DVD Load-Down, where Milky and I review a DVD. Considering time restraints and demand on our poor Milky, we've decided to incorporate the DLD's into our weekly lineup, thereby allotting us more time to work on the DLP sketches you guys love so much more. Those DLP sketches just require more effort on our part.

We were all set for a fun skit that was supposed to be a callback to one of our other sketches, but we had a bit of a crisis and had to scramble to get production started on another one we had in the bank. Like I said millions of times prior, we're running an insanely amateur operation here and you will see how amateurish it is. Of course, that doesn't mean we didn't have fun. As you can see in the bloopers, we always fun.

Pouch here. In keeping with the new Dropping Loads Production schedule, this week is a brand new video for you to laugh your ass off. This week (and it's seriously been a long time coming) is the Official Dropping Loads commercial. Remember when I kept promising cool shit in conjunction with our special Episode 10? Well, this was what we were planning, but it just took some time to get around to shooting the damn thing because of conflicting schedules and unpredictable weather. I really hope you enjoy this one, because we had a shit-ton of fun filming it (as you can tell from the blooper reel that ended up being longer than the actual commercial). This was a true Dropping Loads Production because everyone managed to get involved with this one. Let's hope you can catch Milky's fantastic cameo.
